Obituary
Dwayne Thompson age 64 of the Powell Street community of South Lumberton passed Sunday, September 25, 2022 at his residence. He was the son of the late Pearlie McDowell Thompson and Fester C. Thompson, and a descendant of the McDowell and Thompson families who were part of the foundation and development of the South Lumberton community of Lumberton, North Carolina. Among his survivors is a son, Cornelius Gerald of Marshville, N.C., two sisters, Yvonne Thompson of Silver Spring, M.D. and Jackie T. Cotton of Washington, D.C., one brother, BillyThompson of Durham, N.C. Funeral services will be October 8, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Sandy Grove Baptist Church, 1601 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. in Lumberton, N.C., 28358. Arrangements by McMillan Funeral Home of Lumberton, N.C.
